Daring Essential Oils: Conversion Story

Everyone who likes essential oils and have tried them always have a story of why they converted to them.  So I, like many, have my story.  My little girl who was almost one had a terrible cough and being so little they aren't aloud to have cough medicine (or much of anything really), so I did a little research online and came across essential oils, mainly eucalyptus oil that when combined with a carrier oil and rubbed on the bottom of littles feet will help their coughing and help them to breathe better.  After reading that I headed to our local health food store, found some eucalyptus oil and also got an almond carrier oil and right when we got back in the car I instantly took her socks off, rubbed some oil on her cute little toes, and almost instantly she stopped coughing! By the time I got home she was already asleep, after a restless night, so I laid her in her bed and she slept for hours! It was a miracle for me! I keep trying to learn more about oils and which ones I like, but I will keep that for another post.

Daring Photography: Family Pictures

Since I got my camera I said that I would start taking the kids pictures and try to do our family pictures because (1) pictures are expensive not only to get them taken professionally but also to print them out! (Nothing against professional photographers, they are awesomly talented!!) But when you have a family of 5 (almost 6, yep I'm 7 months pregnant in these pictures!) it is hard to find a couple extra hundred dollars to do them.  And (2) because I want to try and see if I can do it!  So we went to a lake close by and I brought a tripod and did these pictures!  What do you think?  I love my family!

Daring Sewing: My First Dress

A while back I decided that I wanted to try and make a dress for my little girl.  There is this site that has the cutest handmade dresses and sometimes I get close to splurging and getting one!  But I figured that I'd try to make one myself!  So I did some searching for patterns on Pinterest and came across this one, The Bella Dress, that I liked and it was in beginner level! It had a good tutorial and wasn't too hard to follow along.

So I used a skirt that was marked down at Wally-World for like $3 and some material that I already had and made this! I finished this dress in one afternoon, stopping every once in a while to get or do something with the kids!  So not too bad, considering that sometimes when I start projects it takes me forever to finish them!  Remember to read through the tutorial all the way at least once!  There were a few times when I thought I got what it meant but then ended up messing up in a few spots!  Good thing its not too noticeable, especially on this cutest little model! ;)

Daring Photography: Animal and Tree

This challenge was a fun one for me! When I did the animal one we were at the zoo.  It was a fun family outing and I also got a great shot of this beautiful giraffe!

This tree one was fun as well! It took a while until I found a tree that I liked!
I can't decide which edit I like best, 1 or 2?

Daring Photography: Bokeh and Silhouette

Through about the beginning of this year I was invited onto a group on FaceBook to a photography challenge.  It has started to teach me a lot about photography!  If you know me you know that I always have my camera on hand, usually taking pictures of my three gorgeous kids (and soon another little guy on the way)!  So I have been enjoying looking up words like Bokeh and Silhouette to do some of those pictures.
Bokeh was one that was hard to master with my camera.  My camera is a little bit of a step up from just a normal pocket size camera...this one does NOT fit in my pocket! In these kind of pictures you want all your focus on your object while the background is a blur with out of focus parts.  Here is my first one that I liked.  Would you call this Bokeh?

My favorite challenge would have to be the Silhouette pictures that I did! I knew what silhouette meant but I had no idea how to do it in pictures!  I learned that it is best to do right when the sun is going down and taking the picture comes when your objects in the picture are between you and the sun.  Luckily I had some cute kids with me to do these ones!  How do you like?
